Children's Dentistry

Solid foundations for later life

It’s really important to us as childrens dentists that young people grow up with a positive attitude to visiting the dentist and to their dental health and wellbeing in general. We also aim to help them form good dental habits, as this will prevent problems with their teeth in later life.

We make every effort to ensure our younger patients feel especially welcome and do everything we can to make their visits as pleasant and enjoyable as possible. This is why we like to encourage their progress with fun rewards, such as balloons and stickers.

Fitting in with family life

We understand that it can be time-consuming to take the whole family to the dentist. So to make your life easier, family members are welcome to attend at the same time. We offer late-night and early morning appointments, so families can visit together before and after school.

Here at Lion Dental Centre recommend that you bring your child to your dental appointments from birth or as young as possible so that they grow up knowing that dental practices are a positive place to visit where they have nothing to fear. We would hope to have seen most children for their first examination before they are three years old.

To book an appointment for your child at our dental practice in Stourbridge or at our clinic in Stafford, simply fill out a contact form or call us on 01384 376336 and we will be pleased to arrange an appointment for you.

FAQ's

When should I start taking my child to the dentist?

We recommend children start going to see a dentist between the age of 6-9 months. The first few times you take your child to see the dentist it is more about getting them used to seeing the dentist as it can be a scary process for them.

How often should children see a dentist?

Every 6 months unless your dentist in Stourbridge advises otherwise. Children’s teeth are much more susceptible to dental decay as baby teeth are softer. Catching decay early is very important to keep children out of pain.

What toothpaste should my child be using?

The toothpaste children should use depends on their age. Children’s toothpaste will have ages printed clearly on the label. Stick to age-appropriate toothpaste as they contain different levels of fluoride suitable for your child. A child should never use an adult’s toothpaste as the fluoride content is too high.

How do I register my child as a new patient?

If you are considering registering your child with the Lion Dental Centre as a new patient, we sincerely look forward to meeting you and your family. Joining our Stourbridge practice is easy. Just fill out a contact form or call us on 01384 376336 or and we will be pleased to arrange an appointment for you.

How much does a child’s examination cost?

Child examinations cost from £15 but are free of charge for children aged up to age 5 if their parent is a member of our Dental Care Plan. We also offer a children’s Dental Care Plan, which includes two examinations and one hygiene visit a year as well as 10% off any signature treatment needed.
