Looking for the best adult brace to straighten your teeth? Here are our orthodontic favourites
These days, there is a wide choice of adult braces and aligners. Each system has its pros and cons, as you might expect, especially in terms of the kinds of problems each one can address. Adult braces and aligners address other considerations too – they often offer fast orthodontic treatment times; discreet, almost invisible materials and designs; and solutions for different budgets.
Here at Lion Dental Centre in Stourbridge, we offer the following orthodontics solutions, so we thought we’d tell you a bit more about each of them:
Invisalign is a popular system that straightens your teeth using a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners. These aligners are custom-made to fit your teeth. We are able to plot the journey we want your teeth to take from where they are now to their final position and, by changing the aligners every two weeks, we can exert the right forces to make this movement happen. You can even view the virtual results of your treatment before it begins!
The Invisalign aligners are in demand because they’re clear, comfortable and removable. You can your Invisalign out to eat or drink and for special occasions, which is a huge bonus for many people who are worried about orthodontic treatment impacting their lives. This also means that you can clean your teeth as usual.
People love that it’s almost impossible for others to spot that they’re wearing an aligner during their treatment.
The length of Invisalign treatment is comparable to traditional braces, depending on the complexity of the problem being treated, can take between 9 and 18 months to complete.
Diamond Status Invisalign provider, Francesca Dash, is now providing free Invisalign consultations at Lion Dental. She has been providing Invisalign treatments for 17 years and she has completed over 2000 cases.
Recognising that the appearance of traditional wire braces can be a significant barrier to teens agreeing to the orthodontic treatment they need, Invisalign offers an aesthetic, more flexible way for teens to have their teeth straightened.
Although older teens may be able to have the same Invisalign treatment as adults, Invisalign Teen has been designed for younger teenagers whose adult teeth may not have fully erupted. Invisalign Teen aligners use the same technology as Invisalign aligners but they also include wear-time indicators, so teens can spot they’ve worn their aligner enough each day; six free replacement aligners, in case the original aligners are lost or misplaced; and special features designed to compensate for the eruption of canines, second premolars and second molars.
Invisalign Lite/Invisalign i7
Invisalign Lite and Invisalign i7 both work on the same principle as Invisalign aligners but are designed to achieve minor tooth movement and tooth straightening treatment within as little as three months. This is for people who have a slight imperfection to their smile. It can also help if you have had orthodontic treatment in the past and your teeth have moved slightly.
For some people, fixed adult braces are a better option because we are often able to use them to treat more complex cases. Adult braces are a far cry from traditional wire braces in terms of the materials used. The systems we use feature clear brackets and tooth-coloured titanium nickel wires that exert a series of low forces at strategic points to move your teeth from A to B. These braces are almost invisible to casual onlookers; they are also comfortable and highly effective.
Six Month Smiles
Six Month Smiles is one such adult brace system that consists of clear brackets and tooth-coloured wires. It is exceptionally popular because, as the name suggests, the desired results can be achieved in as little as six months. A Six Month Smiles brace is ideal for correcting ‘gappy’ smiles and twisted, overlapping teeth. It is comfortable, discreet, effective, and – thanks to the relatively short treatment time – it often works out to be a highly affordable orthodontic treatment.
The brace or aligner we recommend will depend on your individual case. Our aim is to give you the best possible outcome while respecting your budget and concerns about comfort and aesthetics.
